One of my kids accepted the aol explorer on my laptop. Once installed it disabled ie and only aol programs can access the internet. I try to sign on i get.aol software has stopped working.

I switched from aol to comcast highspeed and was told that aol could be slowing down my computer.how can i remove it totally from my computer? I uninstalled aol explorer (finally) but ie still. (dell demension 2400 xp home)
